- New Features
A couple of fairly major new features were introduced with Kaleider
4.5: Movie input and Surfaces. Also several minor
enhancements and tweaks. Here is some further explanation:
Input => Videos and Image Sequence animations can now provide moving
input for Kaleider effects. A Video or Image Sequence can be opened
much like a standard Image file, and will be displayed and played in the main
Kaleider window. A small Movie Controls panel is available at
the upper right corner of the screen to control how the Movie is
played. Kaleider effects can then be selected and rendered as
usual. Rendered effects will be continuously updated with each Movie
The Movie Controls
can be expanded to show additional information and more options. The sample shown
here is for a Video file. The Movie Controls differ somewhat when
using an Image Sequence.
As with normal Images, Movie loads and other actions can be captured in
Scripts, and later modified via
the Script Control and and Editing screen.
NOTE: The Video Player
and the Image Sequence Player
are still available to play Videos and Image Sequences in separate
Surfaces => Kaleider effects can now be
mapped onto various non-flat, curved Surfaces. The button on the Kaleid Tools panel can
be clicked to access a popup menu from which a Surface can be chosen.
Other than the standard Flat Surface, effects will tend to appear distorted
when tiled over a Surface, sometimes rather drastically.
Surface types can be randomly selected during Automatic Effects
according to options set in the Automatic
Effects Configuration screen. Surface changes can be included
in Scripts, and can be
controlled via a MIDI Device.
- New Diamond Mirror Patterns => 2
new groups of predefined Diamond Mirror Patterns have been added, 4 varieties
each of Corner Wedge and Side Wedge (so 8 in all). These produce
