Besides loading still image files as the sources for Kaleider effects,
it is also possible to select input that will show animated images in the main
window, and effects can be applied upon the continuously moving action.
Click the
(V) button on Kaleid Tools (next to the Open button) to show a popup menu
of Movie load options. Choose Open Video File (or type Ctrl-O) to
select a Video File. Open Video Device will allow selection of a
device that can capture video images, such as a webcam. Use either Open
Image Sequence or Open Sequence Control to choose a still image
sequence as input for animation. After selecting a movie source the
Movie Controls panel will be shown as described below:
While using a Video File,
Video Device or Image Sequence animation as the source for Kaleider effects,
the Movie Controls panel is available at the upper right corner of the
screen to provide playing controls. Press the
button to begin playing
the Video File, Video Device or Image Sequence (play should begin automatically after
the animation source is opened). The button changes to
while playing.
Press
to Stop or Pause. (The Space bar can
also be pressed to Pause/Resume playing.) Click
to remove the Movie
Controls from the screen. The
button can be clicked to expand
the Movie Controls to reveal additional information and options (as shown
below). (
will revert back to minimal controls.)
The

will reinitialize the movie at the beginning. When the
option is toggled on (shown as underlined and bold) the movie will keep repeating.
A Video File can be played backwards by pressing the Reverse
button (the underline indicates Reverse mode is on). The Bounce
button (underlined means on) will cause Videos to continuously play back and forth --
when a Video reaches the end it will reverse and play backwards, then forwards again
when it hits the beginning, and so on. These options are also available with
Image Sequences (not applicable with a Video Device though). The total duration
the Video and current time played are shown. A slider indicates the play progress,
and can be used to adjust the position. The playback Rate is indicated by
a number, with 1.0 meaning normal speed. The - and + buttons can be
used to slow down or speed up the Video respectively, and the || button resets
the Rate to normal. If a Video includes sound, that can be enabled by
checking the Play Audio box.
After a Video Device
(webcam, camcorder, TV tuner, etc.) has been activated, the Movie Controls panel
provides relevant controls. The
button will temporarily suspend the Video
input, showing a still image of the last frame.
can be pressed
to disconnect the device.
will reconnect a device that has been
disconnected. If more than one Video Device is available, a different device
can be chosen via the drop-down box. Format, Display and
TV Control configuration dialogs might be accessed if applicable for a
device.
When using
an Image Sequence, the expanded Movie Controls show the current
Frame and total Frames. A slider indicates the relative progress,
and can be used to alter the progress. The Frame Rate can be adjusted
up by pressing the + button or down with the - button. If a
Sequence Control File has been loaded, the Use Intended option can be
set to use the time that each Frame was 'meant' to be displayed, rather
than the actual time.
