A Pattern Combo begins with a Background that covers the entire image.
The New button can then be used to create additional Areas in several
predefined Shapes (Rectangle, Square, Circle, Oval,
Diamond and Hexagon). Or a Custom Shape can be defined by
clicking the mouse. The Area drop-down box shows the currently selected
Area (or the Background), and can be used to switch to a different
Area. The Background and each Area can be filled with
either a selected Pattern or a solid Color. An Area can be
resized by clicking and dragging the mouse. An Area can either be kept
Centered within the image or it can be set as Movable so that it can be
repositioned as desired with the mouse. (An Options Menu is provided to
control such choices.) If exact Position and Size values are
needed, those can be entered and then applied by pressing the Update
button. Update can also be used to force the redrawing of an Area
(or the Background), which might be used after the associated Pattern
has been altered. (An Area is also automatically redrawn when a different
Pattern or Color is selected, when it is resized or when certain
options are set.) If a selected Pattern currently shows a source image
rather than a rendered effect, then the Area will be filled with that image
(optionally scaled to fit or to fill), thus making it possible to include non-patterned
pictures within Pattern Combos. Also, if Rooms is activated for a
selected Pattern, then the Area can be filled with the 3D Room
scene (again optionally scaled). A Use Upscaled Pattern option is
available if the selected Pattern uses a source image that is larger than the
screen size. A Stencil image can be chosen to combine the current
Area with prior Areas, according to various options.

Press the Save As button to save the current Pattern Combo image.
Copy can be used to transfer the image to the clipboard so that it can be
pasted into another graphics program (or even into the Kaleider main screen).
The Combo drop-down box indicates the currently active Pattern Combo,
and can be used to switch to another Combo. Press New to create
another empty Pattern Combo. A Pattern Combo image is initially
set to the display screen size, but Rebuild can be used to recreate it at
any Width and Height, automatically rescaling the Areas
proportionately (this will cause the Background and all Areas to be
redrawn). By default, the Display option is set as Fit to Window,
causing the image to be scaled down so that the entire picture is visible.
Alternatively, Display can be set to Full Size, which will show the
image at its normal scale, with scroll bars available to move different portions into
view. The Outline option draws a yellow border around the current
Area, with boxes on each side to allow resizing the Area (not applicable
for the Background).
